King Abdullah Economic City Hosts “Messengers of Peace” Workshop

Under the patronage of His Highness Prince Faisal bin Abdullah, Minister of KSA Education, the Saudi Arabian Scouts Association has currently organized “Developing the community with my own hands” workshop that took place in King Abdullah Economic City from 5-7 December 2013, included various development and awareness programs as well as number of social initiatives for members of the Saudi Arabian Scouts Association.

The project is under the umbrella of the “Messengers of Peace” global program that is implemented in 150 countries around the world, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where it has been adopted by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.

The Messengers of Peace program aimed to develop the skills of participants in all fields of scouting. The program addressed the concept and importance of peace, finding solutions to social problems and environmental and health issues, as well as finding a strategy for Messengers of Peace locally and globally. In addition, the program included developing communication skills, networking and self-development courses.

HH Prince Faisal bin Abdullah recognized the endeavors of the scouts and guides for their services towards their communities and praised the rapid progress and development of the program which aims to train scouts and males & females from the region on leadership skills and self-discipline which enhances their sense of belonging and loyalty to the kingdom.

Mr. Fahd Al Rasheed, Managing Director and CEO of KAEC, expressed his delight in hosting the Saudi Arabian Scouts Association and the teams participating in the workshop, saying; “KAEC is an integrated socio-economic city and it is not limited to attracting investments and the development of various industries, but also is committed to the development of national cadres and motivating them to participate in various social activities that will benefit them mentally and physically,” adding that “The Saudi Arabian Scouts Association is the ideal partner for the city to be able to perform its social responsibility role to the fullest.”

Thanking KAEC for hosting the workshop, Dr. Abdullah Bin Sulaiman Al-Fahad, Vice President of the Saudi Arabian Scouts Association, stated that KAEC’s support for the Messengers of Peace program comes as no surprise since the city owns many initiatives and embraces programs aimed at the development of the Kingdom’s youth.

The Messengers of Peace program at KAEC conducted over five periods, in which Dr. Tarek Al-Oudah participated in self-development session, confidence-building, motivation and persuasion skills. Dr. Jameel Fallata and Dr. Hammad Al Hammadi, presented also a session on “The Mechanisms of Development, Implementation and Following Up”. The program included visits to poor families to distribute food baskets and perform home maintenance.
